About the position We seek a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced candidate to join our team as a Visiting Researcher in the Performance, Innovation, and Strategic Analysis for Impact (PISA) unit. The successful candidate will play a key role in data management and analysis and will contribute to the preparation of a peer-reviewed article. Under the Low Emission Food Systems Initiative, in collaboration with the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases and the Ryan Institute at the University of Galway, we are conducting a study to inform and support climate-change capacity development programs to better understand, reflect on, and challenge gender norms and roles affecting young women and men, which may limit their ability to engage in climate action training programs or derive the most benefit and impact from such opportunities.   We seek students enrolled in a M.Sc. program in the field of social sciences (anthropology, sociology, economics, or related fields), with experience in managing and analyzing data, and with technical writing skills.  Key Responsibilities • Participate in (online) team meetings. • Manage (includes organizing and cleaning) two datasets and lead the analysis of these data according to the study design.  • Generate output tables to foster discussion and further guide the analysis. Data will be analyzed mostly using descriptive statistics, and qualitative analysis. Conduct in-depth analysis (e.g., multivariate regressions) if needed. • Review literature related to gender research (including inequalities women face), capacity- developing programs, climate change, and other topics deemed relevant to the study, and consolidate this in a folder. • Contribute in the preparation of a draft peer-reviewed article. Requirements Required qualifications and experience. • Students enrolled in the field of anthropology, sociology, economics, agricultural economics, or related fields, at the master's level. • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite software programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and statistical software (R, Stata, etc.)  • Demonstrable experience producing technical reports. Publications in peer-reviewed journals will be an advantage. • Proficiency in English. • Experience in gender research in agriculture will be an advantage. • Experience in climate change action research will be an advantage. Competences • Ability to work collaboratively but also independently, in a multidisciplinary environment with multicultural teams. • Results orientated, have initiative and capacity to innovate, continuous learning. • Effective communication, both orally and in writing. Benefits Terms This is an internationally recruited position. The Visiting Researcher will be linked to this position for 6 months or until December 2024, whichever comes first. The selected individual will receive a monthly stipend for his/her expenses.  The Alliance Bioversity International - CIAT offers a multicultural and academic research environment. We are an institution that believes diversity contributes to excellence, promotes equal opportunities, and therefore does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, identity, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, age, marital status, or any other personal characteristic.  Applications Interested students are invited to submit their curriculum vitae and a one-page recommendation letter from a professor.
