The purpose of the Next Generation Critical Communications business unit is responsible for critical communication and application capability which underpin the delivery of essential services by multiple agencies. The business unit has a programme for replacing Emergency Services critical radio networks with modern broadband communications in order to better support and deliver frontline services.
To support the delivery of these outcomes the Communications Lead will facilitate all internal and external communications pertaining to the NGCC programme, including developing materials, managing external development of collateral, maintaining currency and providing communication.
Drive the creation and implementation of branding for the business unit. Champion the brand within both the business unit and Emergency Services agencies.
What you'll be doing:
Drive the creation and implementation of branding for the business unit. Champion the brand within both the business unit and Emergency Services agencies
Day-to-day management and/or delivery of communication activities, including the maintenance of websites, development of communication content, production of video content and management of agency communications - both internal and external
Develop communication artefacts to support the delivery of the programmes outcomes
Support the programme team to format and present their communications in an effective way
Facilitate communication planning, development and deployment sessions
Support participating agencies communications to staff
Develop, maintain and deploy a programme communications plan in consultation with key stakeholders
Work with participating agencies to develop cross-sector communications content. Support the Senior Leadership Team and Entity Director, as directed
Work with the programme team and agencies to ensure all agencies use a common approach for programme communications
Assist agencies' communications advisors to prepare their communications
The successful applicant can expect to build and maintain relationships across the NGCC Programme team, New Zealand Police, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, St John and Wellington Free Ambulance.

The successful applicant will have previous experience in a similar role, particularly on a major transformation project
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and an ability to problem solve
An ability to lead the communication strategy and drive change

An ability to communicate with a diverse range of audiences from top level government professionals to users.
