New opportunity for an experience Project Operations Manager to join the PGGI team, based at either New Plymouth or Hamilton site. Key responsibilities will be to maintain local or regional management of all project execution activities in the area of responsibility. Ensure operations are executed in accordance with company procedures, contract specifications, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, and schedule commitments. Coordinate and oversee team development and standardized process development to continually improve effectiveness of project execution teams.
Leads implementation of continuous improvements for the project execution strategy for the local or regional project operation under the guidance of the Global Project Operations Manager.
Leads and overseas the project execution teams locally/regionally, ensuring that ABB Policies are consistently followed. Develops, customizes and continuously improves standard processes and work instructions by adopting ABB and external best practices.
Ensures that lessons learned from project execution are analyzed and conclusions are incorporated in continuous improvement actions.
Participates in the budgeting process, jointly with Local Division/Business Unit Manager and Controller. Participates in Sales and Operations planning with other members of the Local Division/Business Unit/Product Group management team and takes actions to close potential gaps in project execution capacity.
Supervises project execution and performance management through project reviews with management and Project Managers to ensure contract fulfillment and approves any project deviations. Takes an active role in resolving escalated issues, especially those raised by the customer.
Ensures the portfolio of projects follows good methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures, and projects are closed as per contracts entered with customers.
Ensures that projects consistently apply contract and claims management, in accordance with ABB policies and contractual agreements.
Builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Serves as an escalation point for individual and systemic project management issues within the project execution team.

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 10 years’ experience delivering Projects in an electrical or related industry
Local market and customer base experience
Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, previous experience in MV/HV industry would be desirable.
Experience working on & understanding construction sites & their related protocols.
A full clean driver’s license is required as the role will require driving a company vehicle.
Strong English written and verbal communication skills (Essential)
Technically strong and commercially astute skills, experience with preparing tender packages
