The Regulatory and Compliance Group monitors the external environment and establishes the strategic direction of policies and positions relating to regulation, competition, and compliance to further the commercial objectives for the retail energy business.
The Group is an industry leader in the provision of relationships management, policy and technical expertise, and advice and support on regulatory and compliance issues both to retail energy and other relevant stakeholders.
Through sophisticated advocacy, the
Retail Regulation and Compliance Manager
cultivates networks that establish and maintain relationships at the most senior level with the public sector, regulators, agencies, industry associations, industry participants and other relevant stakeholders.
The purpose of this role is to:
Lead the development, management, and advocacy of retail policies and positions relating to compliance, compliance reporting, regulation, competition and regulator relations to further commercial objectives;
Establish and maintain relationships at the most senior level nationally with the public sector, regulators, agencies, industry associations, industry participants and other relevant stakeholders;
Lead the identification, assessment, and management of regulatory issues and risks impacting the retail business;
Represent retail energy on industry boards and at regulatory forums, and manage representation to other external stakeholders and working groups;
Assist in the further development of the Regulation and Compliance team as an industry leader in the provision of relationships management, technical expertise, advice, and support on government, regulatory and compliance issues to the business and other relevant stakeholders.
Specifically applied to:
Economic Policy with a particular focus on Retail market development including pricing, regulation, and access to existing and prospective markets.
Social Policy with a particular focus on regulatory issues associated with retail consumers of electricity and gas, and the associated government agencies, regulators and consumer advocacy groups.
Governance and functional requirements of existing or prospective markets, with a particular focus on market management companies, B2B and B2M, and project work such as IMRO and FRC in additional jurisdictions.
Compliance and compliance reporting, changes to business requirements and technical specifications required and assessing functional and technical requirements. Implement and report against operational changes using quality assurance systems and performance indicators
Preparation of reliable compliance and other regulatory reports, including the preparation and coordination of audit reporting.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CAPABILITIES
Education Level:
Bachelors degree in any field or discipline
Experience:
Minimum five years in a senior commercial, operational, regulatory in the Australian or New Zealand retail energy industry experience.
Experience in roles interpreting and disseminating complex information to multiple stakeholders
