Assistant Professor, Community Health (School Of Nursing)

San Francisco State University, Department/School of Nursing offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Community Health beginning August 7, 2024.We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests may include but are not necessarily limited to: the impact of social determinants of health (SDOH) on health outcomes; global imperatives to dismantle structures of racism that inhibit health equity; social justice advocacy; and, population-focused, culturally responsive, practice-based and intervention-driven research focused on intersectionality and/or underserved and marginalized populations. Scholarship may also include health promotion, wellness, disease and injury prevention, informatics, and multi-modal methods of chronic disease management at the population level as well as use of the social ecological model with emphasis on upstream interventions as one of the theoretical underpinnings.We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment -- through their research, teaching, and service -- to the diversity and excellence of our academic community/department/program.Required qualifications• Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal academic degree in nursing or a related field (Ed.D., DNP).• Candidates must be eligible for or have an active, unencumbered RN license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.• Candidates must have a strong background in public/community health work.• Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching.• Candidates must have experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring nursing students, particularly from minoritized and underserved communities. They must have a commitment to equity in teaching and the promotion of diversity.• Candidates must have strong communication, writing, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. We have programs that will assist the student to become a professional nurse with a BSN and programs that will assist experienced nurses to continue with specialized advanced practice. Faculty have designed rigorous curricula at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with innovative classroom, clinical, simulation and community experiences to prepare our students to promote health and alleviate suffering for the global community of the 21st century.Responsibilities:The position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching in community health, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, developing an active ongoing scholarship program in one's area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments.The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is$92,000 to $94,000 annually (12 monthly payments per academic year).The anticipated hiring range is $92,004 to $93,996 annually.($7,667 to $7,833 per month)Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
