Data Collection and Acquisition: Gather geospatial data from various sources such as satellites, aerial imagery, GPS Devices, or existing databases; Ensure the accuracy and relevance of collected data by verifying sources and conducting quality checks. • 2. Data Processing and Analysis: Perform spatial analysis to extract meaningful insights or patters from data; Generate Maps, charts, and other visualizations to communicate analysis results effectively • 3. Data Base Management: Organize and maintain geospatial databases ensuring data integrity and accessibility. • 4. Technical Support/Training: Provide technical support and training to members or end-users on geospatial data/tools and applications.Work LocationBogotaExpected duration6 MonthsDuties and ResponsibilitiesBased on the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC) guidelines and the supervisor indications, the National Individual Contractor, will develop the following duties: • Participate in the development of geographic information systems, databases and applications along with the necessary geospatial data collection, processing, analysis and dissemination. • Assist in design, development and maintenance of online application systems and programs. • Assists with process improvement mechanisms. • Assisting in preparation of maps • Assists in maintaining geospatial databases, with data collection efforts, create statistics. • Assists with the identification of patterns in geospatial data using standard techniques. • Assists with the preparation of geospatial data sets and responds to queries. • Assists with maintenance and updating of web pages • Assists with maintaining an inventory of organizational needs and requirements, and assists with reports and communication • Coordinates administrative arrangements for correspondence, official travel and training requests. • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.Qualifications/special skills• A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of geospatial information, analysis, mapping, data visualization, information management or related area is required. • Experience working with Geospatial Information Services (GIS) systems such as ArcGIS is desirable. • Experience in visualization, information management, information technology or related area is desirable.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written Spanish is required. Working knowledge of English is desirable.
