Role Purpose This is a pivotal role where you'll craft and execute a dynamic Business Development & Sales strategy tailored to our market needs. As our Strategic Business Development Manager for the Andes Cluster (Colombia, Peru, Chile, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica), you'll collaborate with British Council teams to capitalise on opportunities and drive value aligned with our Global/Regional Exams strategy. Your main objective will be to spearhead the growth of our examinations portfolio, including flagship products like IELTS and Aptis, as well as secondary school exams. You'll be the driving force behind demand generation, ensuring our capacity is maximised, and hitting income targets while delivering exceptional B2B customer service and ensuring high level B2C customer experiences. In this role, you'll be instrumental in formulating, executing, and monitoring the annual Andes examinations business plan. As the senior Exams representative in Colombia, you'll have a seat at the Senior Management Team table, where you'll not only oversee the performance of our Exams operations but also foster a culture of collaboration and excellence within the team. Main accountabilities but not limited to the following Overall Profit & Loss leadership for the cluster. Develops business plans and targets for products/services relative to Market need, and implements. Monitors and revises forecasts in-year. Undertakes pipeline governance and management (go/no go decisions) to global framework Monitors local market, customer and related information and feedback relevant to the cluster, to support the maintenance of British Council's commercial competitive edge and professional reputation. As lead of the Exams Cluster and country team, develops and delivers customised, local and cluster business development initiatives cross portfolio, which can achieve agreed targets (e.g. on margin, income, impact and take up) and are aligned to relevant corporate and regional priorities. As part of a wider team, provides professional input to support the development of high quality, competitive and customer/market-focused bids, tender submissions, programme plans and sponsorship appeals, which can generate specified commercial returns and cultural relations impact. Ensures excellent Account Relationship Management. Develops the planning, establishment and maintenance of nominated account/stakeholder/partner or sponsor relationships. Builds effective working relationships with a variety of SBU and regional colleagues, and a range of information-gathering techniques, to maintain a full and current understanding of product / programme / sector developments and priorities. Actively takes part of the planning, monitoring, execution and evaluation of promotional, marketing, PR and outreach collateral/activities within their area of product/programme/customer/market focus. Acts as figurehead for the Exams Cluster, managing relationships with external stakeholders Line manages local and cluster BD team. Enables a climate of constructive feedback and productive workplace performance. Requirements of the role At least 3 years' experience of managing a team. At least 3 years' experience of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Demonstrable experience of sustaining and/or growing a product/service in line with strategic priorities for income and impact. Significant experience collecting and analysing client/stakeholder feedback and using the data to identify and resolve business needs and obstacles. English at CEFR level C1. Spanish at CEFR level B2. University Degree or equivalent in any subject or qualification in a relevant field. A connected and trusted UK in a more connected and trusted world.
